For 7th and 8th Grade Students Now is the time to plan ahead! The earlier a plan is put into place, the better the chance for success. For example, the math a student takes in the 7th and 8th grades determines if they are able to take any Calculus in high school. This affects acceptance to business programs in colleges.
Includes the following:
Meet to discuss student's college preparatory courses.
Determine if the student is ready to take Algebra 1 or 2 before high school.
Determine which courses can be taken in summer school so that all of the necessary math and science classes can be taken during high school. (Colleges are now requiring Calculus A and B in order to be accepted to the School of Business or Engineering Programs.)
Discuss community service activities that should be taking place during this time of student's educational plan.
Discuss what Advanced Placement (AP) courses should be taken, if any, for each specific student and subject.
Look at the variety of summer camps available for this age group and how they will help with the college admission process.
Prepare athletic path in order to play college sports.
